Finally...The Rock has come back to grown up movies! For years since he left the WWE I have been waiting for Dwayne Johnson to get his act together. I've seen him play a fairy, an angry football player turned concerned dad, and a gay hula dancing bodyguard. What I have longed to see is the action hero that showed so much promise in the 'Run Down.'
Now we see what looks like a thinking man's revenge movie. It looks like a re-imagining of Charles Bronson's 'Death Wish' series, but with faster cars. I'll admit to being curious about this movie after watching the trailer, but not very optimistic of its chances of scoring big with audiences.
Prediction.
On a weekend competing with Cher, the latest kid's movie dujour, a romantic comedy, and the juggernaut which is Harry Potter still only days old I think this will be the loser of the bunch. That's not to say I think it will suck, but compared to everything else its just outclassed.
