Gnomeo and Juliet

Director: Kelly Asbury

The Bouw-Man.
All I could think while watching the preview is how much this looks like a rip-off of the “Toy Story” and “Shrek.”  Considering those are probably the two most successful animated franchise of all-time, it’s not surprising that a copycat such as this is coming down the pike.  Last year’s “Tangled” gave us a twist on a timeless story, and “Gnomeo and Juliet” is something out of this same realm.  However, the trailer for “Gnomeo and Juliet” doesn’t come close to that of “Tangled.”  It just doesn’t look that good, and I just don’t think Gnomes are the kind of characters that a young audience is going to respond to.  $15 million for what appears to be a forgettable animated feature.

Opening Weekend Gross: $15 Million

Noodles: Prediction
Isn't Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' a classic tragedy? Two star crossed lovers that die at the end, right? So who decided that this concept needed a remake as a children's story? Either they're going to change the ending, so its like 'what's the point of the name? Or the little garden gnomes will jump off the roof into a billion pieces. Bring on the children!
Opening Weekend Gross: $8 Million
