Rango

Director: Gore Verbinski
Rating: PG

The Bouw-Man.
Looks like it could be a lot of fun.  It also appears that it has the potential to tell a much more poignant story than the typical modern-day animated feature.  Johnny Depp tends to pick projects that are original in scope, so one would believe he wouldn’t lend his voice to just your average “run-of-the-mill” family film.  The special effects look amazing, so this looks really promising as the first bona fide blockbuster of 2011.  The director is Gore Verbinski, who is best known for “The Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.  Whether you’re a fan of those films or not, you have to admit that the cinematography was certainly not the problem.  If you like family and/or animated films, I can’t think of a good reason not to give “Rango” a look.

I think this is going to be the “real deal.”  To start, I think a $41 opening weekend is an appropriate starting point.  However, I believe this will have some staying power and will settle in at around $200 domestically when it’s all said and done.
Opening Weekend Gross: $41 Million

Noodles: Prediction
Looks like it could be quite delightful, but I won't know until HBO premieres it.
Opening Weekend Gross: $25 Million
